Now here’s something a bit cool… A 1955 Chevrolet Bel Air two-door sedan that’s been purpose-built for historic endurance rallying. Now located here in the UK but officially still registered in the US, this classic rally car has been extensively modified for long-distance events and would be a fantastic option for someone looking to take part in the world’s best motoring adventures like the 2028 Peking to Paris Motor Challenge, the 2026 Badawi Trail, and the 2026 Gaucho Trail.
Performance: A 350ci V8 crate engine, installed in 2018, is paired with a Tremec 6-speed manual transmission. The engine features an aluminum intake manifold, a Holley four-barrel carburetor, and finned Corvette valve covers. Additional upgrades include an aluminum radiator, an electric cooling fan, a 100-amp alternator, and an electric fuel pump with a water separator—ideal for dealing with poor-quality fuel on long expeditions. The gearbox is a delight to use, and the power of that V8 means that despite the car’s size, it really picks up and goes!
Suspension & Brakes: Global West tubular control arms with aftermarket springs, drilled and slotted rotors with Wilwood front disc brakes, plus Fox off-road shocks at all corners. Reinforced front frame plates and skid plates protect the drivetrain.
Safety & Interior: Upgraded with Corbeau bucket seats and harnesses, a roll bar, dash-mounted switches, dual fire extinguishers, and LED lighting. The removal of the rear seat creates additional space for storage.
Rally Essentials: Complete with Classic Instruments gauges (including a 140-mph speedometer and tachometer), Brantz digital rally timers, a trunk-mounted air compressor, and a dedicated fuel cell.
Exterior & Finishing Touches: The car’s white and yellow livery is complemented by KC driving lamps, Lucas amber fog lamps, and 16″ steel wheels with LT215/85 BFGoodrich Commercial T/A Traction tyres.
